Grandpa Davis passed away on September 10, 2012. He was 97 1/2 years old. We had the graveside services on September 15, 2012 at Crown Point Cemetery. Carrie just had Cody so I was able to get several days off of work to help Dad with all the family coming in and get things organized since Mom was in AZ with her. Plus Mom had a to-do list for Dad and I was in charge of making sure he remembered to do everything :) I think we did most of it :) Family started trickling in on the 13th. So Dad and I took King Arthur and Melanie on a 4-wheeling trip and yes Dad took a short cut that ended up making the trip a little bit longer than anticipated but I think Dad needed it before we got started on the to do list.
September 15th we had the grave site at Crown Point. It was a beautiful day. More family was able to make it into town for the grave site. Uncle Kenny forced me to give his speech which was Grandpa's life story. I found out that each one of Grandpa's kids call thing differently. So here I was thinking that they had moved 14 different times but as I started to question them further and started to put dates with things they only moved 4 or 5 times (I can't remember and I typed his eulogy on moms computer). It was also interesting to hear their different perspective on the same event. Here are pictures from the grave site service.
Above is Uncle Allen looking all spiffy!! Below is King Arthur with his cowboy hat and Melanie.
Uncle Donny drove in from AZ just in time for the grave site and he was able to bring most of his family.
Can you tell what Uncle Allen decided was his?
Above Uncle Allen thought that Uncle Wayne needed to be represented. So below Aunt Joyce then added Aunt Janet (she couldn't make it down from Alaska) to the picture.
Clearly we have the same genetics because as the grandkids we couldn't stand still either. The picture below is the best we got. :)
Grandpa Davis is close to where Grandma Davis and Uncle Wayne are buried. Use the pink flower in the above picture to locate the distance in the picture below.
