Catching UP!!

Since I lasted posted something I went to Daniel's early birthday party, had the Christmas party for work and went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert.
The day after Thanksgiving John and Pam had Daniel's Birthday party early since Mom and Dad were in town. Pam had made all this wonderful food for Thanksgiving and I think we ate all day. The funniest part for me was Caleb after Daniel opened his Star Wars Lego's grabbed the box and hugged it saying "I just love these"(See picture below).
The Christmas party for work was last night. It is fun to go to because our Department is so huge that most of the time we can recognize each others voices but we have never actually seen each other.
This morning I went to the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Program. I had put my name and Mom's name in to get tickets and both of us won. I gave my 4 tickets to the Powell family and then used Mom's for 3 of my friends. The Powell's went Friday night they had seats in the Balcony of the Conference Center where today we had tickets for down on the floor. We were 16 rows behind President Monson. It was a great concert. The special guests were Natalie Cole and author David McCullough. I think the highlight though was a solo by the organist. It was amazing. It was also very cool to see and listen to both Natalie Cole and David McCullough tell us what a great experience they had and that they were impressed by everyone involved with the church and program.

I Love These!

I am sharing this video of Taylor Swift and T-pain (from www.cmt.com) because it makes me smile and laugh. If you don't know Taylor Swift is a very popular country singer and T-Pain if you can't tell by the name is a rapper. Listen to the words and watch him though watching her is pretty funny as well. So enjoy and hope this makes you smile and laugh as well.

Laramie 08.17.09-08.23.09

Monday afternoon I travel from Fort Collins to Laramie. Greg and Kori let me stay with them and kept me well feed (I even had to eat veggies). Greg and Kori had to work during the day so I reacquainted myself with Laramie and took pictures of peoples flowers on my walks. Laramie weather was heavenly so I would take a couple walks a day. I also got to hang out with Patty for a couple hours one day. There has been a lot of changes since I was going to college but also several things have remained the same. Greg and Kori live in this wonderful neighborhood that takes great care of each other.
So on to the pictures. Sorry you get to see a ton of flower pictures and believe me this doesn't even represent a quarter of the pics I took.

On Saturday we went rock climbing up at Vedauwoo. We get out of the vehicle and we are putting sunscreen on when Greg sees a moose, but I can't get my camera fast enough and we decided there was no way we were going to go chasing because the grass was so tall. So we started to hike towards the rocks and that is when I am able to get pictures of the moose. It was very cool!!!

Here is the group pictures. This was about an hour into us climbing because we had started up oneside and realized we couldn't make it to the top so we went clear to the otherside and started to climb. The boys are little monkeys and had no problems scambling up the rocks.

A wonderful sunset in Laramie.

Thanks Kori and Greg. I had a great week. Just what the doctor ordered. I don't know if I was sore from rock climbing or having sword fights with Bodie and Jamen:)

Fort Collins 08.14.09

I started my vacation by heading to Fort Collins, CO. Susan and Dave let me stay at their house. It was so nice to visit with Susan. I had not made it out to Fort Collins in several years and when she goes to Grand Junction to see her parents I don't see them because her parents are in a different stake now. Susan's mom happened to be there as well so that was an extra plus for the trip. Susan's brother and his family also lives in Fort Collins and we spent some time over there as well. In fact as soon as I got into town we went to their house because they were building boards to play cornholing. If you are asking yourself "what the crap is cornholing" then you are having the same thought I had. There is actually a national organization. It is a pretty fun game. The only problem I had with cornholing was the color and team put on the boards. :) To learn more about cornholing go to www.americancornhole.org.

Susan's kids decided they wanted to play dress up and have me take their pictures. This was pretty funny and everyone had fun. The only kid I didn't get was the baby because he was asleep.

Thanks Susan for a great time and for letting me eat the yummy peaches your mom brought over. Monday afternoon I headed to Laramie, WY for the rest of the week.

Grandma Ruby Tribute

Last week on Tuesday May 12th my Grandma Ruby passed away. We had her funeral on Saturday May 16th which was her birthday. She would have been 82. This has been a huge shock and completely unexpected.
My Grandma's greatest legacy to me is her love for people and willingness to serve others. She lived just 15 minutes from us my entire life. Her house was right by the middle school and we loved spending the night and walking to school. She would fix us popcorn on the stove. We always thought that was cool. She always called us on our birthdays. She loved this country and those who protected this country with their lives. When she made friends it was for a lifetime and she no longer consider you a friend you were family. So then you would get a phone call for your birthday :) She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved serving the in the temple. So many more memories that I can't even begin to tell them all.
Here are a few pictures:

Everyone at the funeral helped guide Grandma to the car. We decided to do this in honor of her always serving us we now had a chance to serve her.

The pallbearers were my dad, my brother Jason, my brother John, my brother-in-law JL, family friends Casey Waughtel, Bryan Waughtel, and Nick Kohls.

My mom with Carrie's youngest Kaylynn. If you want to know what my mom looked like when she was 2 Kaylynn is a carbon copy of my mom. We found some pictures while we were going through things and no one could tell if it was Kaylynn or my mom.

My grandma holding the newest of her great grandkids 3 weeks ago.

Grandma with all of us grandkids. My grandma loved my mom and aunt but all of us knew that she adored us grandkids.

We will me you grandma!!

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free; I'm following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day; to laugh, to love, to work, or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow; I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now,

He set me free.

We will miss you grandma!!
